[5.8강진] "안전 이상없다지만"..진앙지 원전 밀집 '불안감 고조'
우리나라 내륙에서 발생한 지진 가운데 가장 강력한 규모 5.8의 지진이 경주시 남남서쪽 8km에서 잇따라 발생하면서 원전의 안전성에 대한 불안감이 더욱 높아지고 있다.
산업통상자원부와 한국수력원자력은 월성, 한울, 고리, 한빛 등 4개 원전본부와 수력, 양수 발전설비를 전체 점검을 실시한 결과, 시설 안전에는 이상이 없다고 밝혔다.
지각운동으로 생긴 단층 가운데 활성단층이란 지금도 살아서 움직이는 단층을 말하며, 학계에서는 활성단층이 지진의 진앙지가 되는 것으로 보고 있다.
"국내 핵발전소가 밀집된 지역이 활성단층이 집중돼있고 활성단층조사 미비, 내진설계 취약 등으로 위험이 상존한다. 내진설계는 설계일 뿐이며 실제 어느 정도의 지진을 견디는지를 전면 재평가해야 한다"
